Note from the Editor
Are you paring down
these days -- eating closer to
home, getting out for a walk
with the dog, just enjoying the
comforts of home? It seems
to us that's what's happening
in Natomas. We've been
seeing parks filled with kids, a
proliferation of both weekend
bicyclists and commuters with
briefcase backpacks on our
trails and streets.
Summer in your own
back yard has a special appeal
today.
This month we have an
update on the Downtown/
Natomas/Airport light rail
line, which will one day join
the Gold Line to Folsom
and the Blue Line to Meadowview
as the Green Line
to Sacramento International
Airport. This project was
recommended in Sacramento's
1984 transportation plan,
and a confluence of events is
pulling it forward at last. RT
General Manager Mike Wiley,
a longtime Natomas resident
himself, says that response
from neighborhoods could
mean the DNA will have
"features that may not exist in
Sacramento today."
We couldn't resist a
quick day trip just past Grass
Valley to Troll Knoll, and
neither should you. Words
and pictures just don't convey
what it's like to stroll through
John Morris' 20-acre fantasy
garden. Or to spend a few
hours with a born storyteller
in his element.
N magazine gears up
this time of year for two of
our most popular events: our
summer concert in Natomas
Oaks Park on Saturday,
August 1; and our annual
photo contest. Get out your
picnic baskets and blankets,
and your camera, and we'll see
you in Natomas!
We'd like to thank Sue
Dwyer-Voss, an alert reader
who pointed out that when
we congratulated Natomas
graduates last month, we
inadvertently left out those
who attend Natomas Charter
School's PFAA and Pact
programs, as well as Natomas
Pacific Pathways Prep (NP3).
Thanks for helping us
recognize these hard-working
graduates!
