Note from publisher, Dennis Spear
It's a brave new year
with a fragile economy that
is on the mend. We live in a
community that is working
hard for local business and has
such great and active citizens.
N magazine urges you to get
involved and work with local
nonprofit groups that need
your help. We also encourage
you to shop and eat locally to
let our Natomas businesses
know that they are important
to you.
There is a lot going on
in the community from the
rebuilding of the levees to
the new representation of
Natomas by Steve Cohn and
Robert Fong Jr. Along with
Angelique Ashby, we now
have three advocates that have
pledged to work together for
all of Natomas. We hope they
will truly think of the whole
community in their decisions.
This is our green issue
and we see the ongoing effort
of business to operate efficiently.
While the economy
slowed green development,
we are still active and have
some great accomplishments
in our region. Natomas has

buildings in
the certified Gateway Tower.
Liane Quirk, N magazine's
health editor, has looked
into shopping and eating
green. From less packaging to
bringing your own reusable
grocery bags, there is a lot that
you can do to create a smaller
carbon footprint.
Natomas resident, Gloria
Diaz and her family visited the
Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza,
Yucatan, Mexico on our N
Worldwide page this month.
As always, we aim for
the positive within our pages
and we look forward to 2012
as a year with even more
positive stories. One thing we
do know, you can feel proud
of your Natomas community.
In the last year, we have
met many great people and
reported many positive stories.
