The Natomas Rose Garden is adjacent to the South Natomas Library, this all-volunteer community garden was opened for public use on May 28, 2008. The garden is available for weddings and outdoor events. The adjacent community center has meeting rooms and a kitchen available. For rental information call (916) 808-1571. The Giving Tree offers neighbors, families, businesses and volunteer groups the chance to make a difference in the lives of less fortunate seniors this holiday season. The Eskaton TLC program provides daily telephone reassurance phone calls to more than 450 seniors, helping them live safely and independently in their own homes. Each client receives a special Christmas gift donated and delivered by volunteers. Volunteers are needed to donate and/or deliver gifts to neighborhood seniors December 10-25.

The Sacramento Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) will hold two one-day sessions entitled Holiday Camp Kindness, December 20 and 21. Contact ddrake@sspca.org for more information. You can sign up to help with the Second Annual Pet Telethon, to be held on Channel 13 in early 2006. Any organization or group can raise funds for the SSPCA by hosting your own independent event or project.

The GreenHouse program's mission is to renew the Natomas community by providing families with opportunities for education, artistic expression, fitness, and spiritual growth. The program offers opportunities to sponsor a child at Christmas. Sponsors will receive the name of a child, along with their wish list (a pair of shoes and a toy). Sponsors buy and wrap the gifts by December 18.

Adopt-A-Senior is an ongoing project providing outdoor home repairs and/or yard work to frail or low-income seniors. By assisting with tasks such as cleaning rain gutters and removing yard debris, youth volunteers can help elderly residents to live safely and independently in their own homes.

Women Escaping a Violent Environment (WEAVE) provides services to survivors of domestic violence and their families as well as survivors of sexual assault in Sacramento County. WEAVE offers a vast array of crisis intervention, advocacy and counseling programs. They are also the sole provider of comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault within the county.

Americorps California serves local nonprofits, schools, faith-based organizations and other groups tutoring and mentoring children, coordinating after-school programs, building homes, conducting neighborhood patrols, restoring the environment, responding to disasters, building nonprofit capacity and recruiting and managing volunteers.

The Kylee Lillich Charitable Giving Tree has helped hundreds of needy kids referred by professionals such as nurses, teachers, principals and social workers in the Sacramento and Woodland areas. New clothing, toys or other special wishes are granted to children who have lost a sibling, parent or primary caregiver. Natomas resident Traci Lillich founded the organization after losing her two-year-old daughter Kylee in January 2000. The nonprofit is 100 percent volunteer based.

The City of Sacramento's volunteer program provides a broad source of expertise, talent, and manpower for City programs as well as an avenue for citizens to participate in their local government. Volunteers help with animal care, gardening, tours, arts and crafts, child development, special events and much more. Some departments can use volunteers as young as 12, while others require the volunteer to be at least 18.

Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center serves the North Sacramento and Natomas area neighborhoods. Its goal is to provide programs, services and opportunities that will enhance the lives of disadvantaged and disenfranchised individuals and families. The five main programs are the Children°Øs Program, Teen Center, Senior Center, Emergency Assistance and Community Development.
